Overview

MNTN’s integration with Freshpaint lets healthcare brands run and measure high-performing, HIPAA-compliant CTV campaigns. You’ll capture performance insights and drive revenue—without ever compromising patient privacy.

Traditionally, healthcare organizations have avoided running CTV campaigns because of the risks involved with sharing sensitive patient data. Until now. With Freshpaint’s privacy-first integration with MNTN, you can target, measure, and grow on CTV like never before. It’s patient privacy and performance marketing, finally in sync.

Why it matters

  • HIPAA-compliant data collection: Freshpaint replaces non-compliant tracking technologies, ensuring all data collection and sharing for CTV campaigns stays HIPAA-compliant.

  • Protection of sensitive data: The platform blocks Protected Health Information (PHI), such as IP addresses and device IDs, from ever being sent to MNTN or other non-compliant tools.

  • Anonymous customer journey tracking: Freshpaint assigns anonymous identifiers to each visitor, allowing campaign attribution and performance measurement without exposing personal data.

How it works

  1. Activate the integration.

    Connect your Freshpaint account to MNTN in Integrations.

  2. Launch your campaign.

    Every impression is logged with a generic, anonymous identifier—never tied to a person.

  3. Attribution occurs in Freshpaint.

    Freshpaint matches impressions with site activity to determine which ads drove conversions.

  4. Performance data is sent to MNTN.

    Freshpaint pushes validated visit and conversion events back to MNTN, using the same anonymous identifier.

  5. Measure results.

    Visits, conversions, and campaign impact display directly in your MNTN reporting dashboard, in real-time.

Set It Up

In Freshpaint:

To support accurate MNTN attribution and reporting, your Freshpaint setup must meet the following requirements. For step-by-step configuration instructions in Freshpaint, see Freshpaint's MNTN Quick Start Guide.

Freshpaint will generate an impression tag you'll use to connect the integration in MNTN.

Required visit events

MNTN requires a visit event to run proper MNTN conversion attribution and is highly recommended. Freshpaint supports visit events in two ways:

  • Sending page view events as verified visits by default, or

  • Sending a custom event with the property mntn_event_type = visit

If both are configured, the mntn_event_type property always takes precedence.

Required & recommended properties

Your Freshpaint configuration must allow the following properties to be sent to MNTN.


⚠️ Warning: Missing:

  • Required properties will prevent attribution.

  • Recommended properties will limit reporting capabilities.


Required

  • $mntn_impid – required for attribution

  • account_id – required for attribution

Recommended

  • order_id – enables order-level matchback analysis

  • order_amount – enables revenue reporting

In MNTN:

  1. Sign in to your MNTN account.

  2. From the account dropdown in the top right, select My Account.

  3. Under My Account in the left navigation pane, click Integrations.

  4. Under Analytics Integrations, find Freshpaint and click Connect.

  5. Under Impression Tracking URL, enter the impression tag generated in Freshpaint.

  6. Click Save.

    To disconnect the integration, click Manage > Disconnect.


    ⚠️ Warning: Don't place the MNTN Pixel when using Freshpaint. Freshpaint acts as a privacy-compliant replacement, and adding the Pixel separately may interfere with attribution.


  7. Launch a small test campaign before scaling to confirm Freshpaint is receiving and sending data correctly.

Reporting Data Available in MNTN

Once integrated, most reports in the MNTN reporting dashboard will populate with visit, conversion, and revenue data from Freshpaint.

However, the following reports or metrics won't function as expected due to data limitations:

Site Impact Report (site visitor metrics):

  • Raw Site Visitors

  • MNTN-Driven Site Visitors

MNTN doesn't receive any household identifiers from Freshpaint (for example, IP address), so we're unable to deduplicate Verified Visits at the household level.

Incrementality Dashboard

MNTN doesn't receive household identifiers from Freshpaint, which are required to build a control audience for incrementality measurement.

Attribution Paths Report

MNTN doesn't receive source attribution data from Freshpaint.

First-Touch Data

MNTN doesn't receive source attribution data from Freshpaint, so we're unable to determine whether a visit or conversion originated from direct or organic traffic.

Visit Assist Metrics (for Multi-Touch campaigns only) in these reports:

  • Creative

  • Ad Size

  • Network/Publisher

MNTN doesn't receive household identifiers that allow us to identify last-touch attribution between different MNTN ad units within a given creative set (for example, a TV ad and an associated Multi-Touch ad).

Audience Functionality

The Freshpaint integration doesn't currently include audience targeting based on website behavior.

This means:

  • Retargeting audiences can't be built

  • Audience exclusions based on website visits or website conversions are not available

This is because MNTN isn't collecting household-level data from Freshpaint.

Keep this limitation in mind when using MNTN Matched audiences.


💡 Pro Tip: If new-to-brand targeting is a priority, we recommend uploading a CRM list of existing customers or prospects to exclude them from prospecting audiences.

Will I still need the MNTN Pixel?

No. Freshpaint replaces the need for the MNTN Pixel. Using both at the same time may create duplicate or inaccurate reporting.

Where will I see performance data?

Conversions and campaign performance will appear directly in your MNTN reporting dashboard, under conversion source: Freshpaint, for most default reports and metrics.

Are conversion event types customizable?

Yes. Advertisers can define the types of conversions Freshpaint sends to MNTN (e.g., form fills, purchases, pageviews).

Can I run retargeting campaigns using the Freshpaint integration?

No. The Freshpaint integration doesn't currently support audience targeting based on website behavior.

Because MNTN doesn't receive household-level data from Freshpaint, retargeting audiences can't be built from website visits or website conversions.
