Analyze Campaign Performance

Analyze campaign performance from multiple angles within the Performance Metrics report.

The Performance Metrics report helps you analyze campaign performance across multiple reporting dimensions within a consistent reporting experience.

Use View By to switch between reporting views, including Campaign, Creative, Audience/Keyword Segment, Marketing Strategy, Channel, TV Network, Publisher, and Ad Size. You can then use Pivot By to group the selected View By data under another dimension.

The report layout remains consistent across views, including top metrics, charts, and tables, helping you compare performance and identify trends without adjusting to different report structures. Performance Metrics also includes built-in reporting context, including budget change indicators and reporting update guidance, to help you interpret results with confidence.

How the Report Is Organized

Performance Metrics uses a consistent reporting structure across supported views and pivots so you can analyze performance using a predictable reporting workflow.

Each report includes top metrics, charts, and tables that work together to help you review, compare, and analyze campaign performance.

Section

Purpose

Metrics

Review high-level performance and key campaign outcomes

Charts

Visualize performance trends and comparisons over time

Tables

Analyze detailed reporting breakdowns and comparisons

The report hierarchy, chart structure, and metric ordering remain consistent across reporting views to support easier comparison and interpretation.

Metrics

Top metrics provide a high-level summary of campaign performance for the selected reporting configuration and date range.

Metrics update dynamically based on the selected View By, Pivot By configuration, filters, date range, and comparison settings.

Performance Metrics also includes built-in reporting context, including budget change indicators and reporting update guidance, to help you interpret results with confidence.

Charts

Charts visualize reporting trends over time based on the selected reporting configuration, filters, date range, and available Pivot By or Compare settings.

Charts default to Total Spend, but you can select another available metric to update the visualization.

Performance Metrics also supports interval adjustments within charts, allowing you to change how reporting periods are grouped.

Tables

The table provides detailed reporting breakdowns tied to the selected reporting configuration.

Depending on your selected view and reporting configuration, tables may display:

  • Summary reporting data

  • Detailed reporting data

  • Period-over-period comparisons

Analyze Performance Across Different Views

Use View By to select the reporting dimension you want to analyze. When you use View By without a pivot, top metrics show aggregate performance for the selected account and date range. Charts and tables then break performance out by the selected reporting dimension.

Available views include:

View

Reporting Focus

Campaign

Campaign-level performance

Creative

Creative performance

Audience / Keyword Segment

Audience and keyword segment performance

Marketing Strategy

Marketing strategy performance

Channel

Channel performance

TV Network

Streaming TV network performance

Publisher

Ad Size

Ad size performance

Use Pivot By to group the selected View By data under another dimension. When a pivot is applied, the pivot becomes the top-level grouping, and the selected View By dimension appears beneath it.

Compare Performance Over Time

Use Compare to evaluate performance across two reporting periods.

Compare is available when using View By without a Pivot By selection. If you apply a Pivot By selection, the Compare option is not available.

Available comparison options include:

Compare Option

Description

Previous Period

Compares the selected date range against the immediately preceding period

Same Period, Last Year

Compares the selected date range against the same period from the previous year

Custom Range

Compares the selected date range against a custom reporting range

When Compare is applied, Performance Metrics labels the selected date range as Period A and the comparison range as Period B.

If you compare date ranges with different lengths, Performance Metrics aligns the comparison by the start date of each selected range.

📘 Example: If Period A is May 1–31 and Period B is April 1–28, the comparison starts with May 1 aligned to April 1.

Comparison data appears across the report:

Report Section

How Comparison Data Appears

Metrics

Displays Period A and Period B values with percentage differences

Charts

Displays a solid line representing Period A, and a dotted line representing Period B. Matching colors indicate the same metric across both periods.

Tables

Displays reporting data for both periods within the selected reporting view

Refine Reporting Results

Use filters, date ranges, views, and pivots together to refine the reporting data displayed in the report.

Performance Metrics supports the same filtering and date range capabilities available throughout Reporting.

When you configure a reporting view that fits your workflow, you can:

  • Save it as a custom report

  • Share it with teammates

  • Duplicate widgets or full report views

  • Export report data directly from Reporting

Duplicated report components:

  • Preserve the selected pivot

  • Inherit dashboard filters and date ranges

  • Support chart-level overrides, including chart type and metric settings

Legacy Reports

The Performance Metrics report replaces several individual reports previously available under Reporting in the left navigation pane:

  • Existing customers active on MNTN before May 28, 2026, will retain access to legacy report templates for custom reports. These templates are labeled Legacy.

  • New customers will not have access to legacy reports or legacy report templates.
