Set Up Your Media Plan

Learn how to use MNTN Media Plan to forecast inventory, allocate budgets across networks, and launch smarter TV-only prospecting campaigns.

Overview

The MNTN Media Plan helps you launch smarter CTV campaigns using forecasting models, machine learning, and historical performance data to recommend an optimized mix of networks based on your budget, vertical, goals, and available inventory.

When you open the Media Plan step in campaign creation, MNTN automatically applies a recommended network mix to your campaign. Each Media Plan is unique to the advertiser and designed to help your campaign start with a strong network mix before spend begins.

After launch, MNTN Automation evaluates your Media Plan overnight. When automation is turned on, MNTN may update network selection or budget allocation to help improve campaign performance.

You can keep your plan automated, or manage it manually to control network selections, budget allocations, and which networks are eligible for overnight automation.

Who it's for

Starting June 23, 2026, new customers who create a Traffic & Sales or Leads campaign can use Media Plan.

Why it matters

  • Smarter Planning: Start with a network mix built from advertiser-specific signals, forecasting models, and historical performance data.

  • Confidence at Launch: Media Plan surfaces recommendations before spend begins, so your campaign starts with a data-informed network mix from day one.

  • Stronger Results: Overnight optimization helps keep your plan aligned with performance as your campaign runs.

  • More Control: Switch between automated and manual modes, adjust network selections, and choose which networks are eligible for overnight automation.

  • Greater Transparency: See what changed after overnight optimization, including allocation increases or decreases, added or removed networks, and update history.

Review Your Custom Plan

  1. Create a new campaign.
Media Plan is available for eligible campaigns, including TV-only Prospecting campaigns using a Traffic & Sales or Leads objective for new advertisers.

  2. Open the Media Plan step.
When you open the Media Plan step, a recommended mix of networks is automatically applied to your campaign.

Click View full network mix to review the included networks before continuing.

💡 Pro Tip: The recommended Media Plan is designed to optimize performance. Manual edits may reduce efficiency unless you have a specific reason to adjust.

  3. Review your campaign's Deliverability Confidence.
Watch the widget in the top-right corner of your screen for real-time feedback on your campaign setup.

Understand Flex

Your Media Plan may include Flex, which gives MNTN room to serve outside the networks listed in your plan.

Flex is typically 5–15% of your budget and helps MNTN access additional inventory that may support campaign performance.

Manage Your Plan Manually

If you manually edit your Media Plan, MNTN respects your selections while still optimizing within your chosen framework.

  1. From the Media Plan step, in the bottom-right, click Manage this plan manually.

    The confirmation modal appears.

⚠️ Warning: Manual adjustments may impact performance. Switching to manual gives you full control, but AI will no longer automatically optimize your network allocations.

  2. Click Switch to manual.

You can switch back to an auto-managed plan at any time.

Adjust Networks

  1. In the upper-right corner, click + Add Networks.

  2. Search, add, and remove networks to fit your goals.

Make sure your media plan includes at least two active networks before moving on.

💡 Pro Tip: You can toggle Selected only and AI Recommended filters.

  3. In the bottom-right corner, click Add Networks.

Adjust Allocations

  1. In the Allocations field next to each network, enter the percentage of your campaign budget you’d like to assign.

⚠️ Warning: Your allocations must add up to 100% before you can move forward.

  2. In the bottom-right, click Save Media Plan.

Turn Automation On or Off by Network

In manual mode, use the Automation toggle to choose which networks are eligible for overnight optimization.

If automation is turned:

  • ON for a network, MNTN Automation may update that network overnight.

  • OFF for a network, MNTN keeps your manual selection and allocation for that network.

⚠️ Note: You can manage your Media Plan manually, but you can’t remove the Media Plan step from an eligible campaign.

Update Your Plan Mid-Flight

You can make changes to your Media Plan while your campaign is running, and those changes take effect after you save your updated Media Plan. Deliverability and pacing may shift based on your changes.

This gives you flexibility to adjust your strategy based on performance or evolving goals.
