Overview
The Activity Timeline helps you understand how historic changes to your campaigns align with performance trends. Activity markers on time-based charts make it easier to identify when changes occurred and investigate what may have influenced performance.
Use the Activity Timeline to review changes to audiences, budgets, creatives, and campaign goals, including who made the change and when it occurred.
Access the Activity Timeline
The Activity Timeline is available in the Performance Metrics report. Activity markers appear on time-based charts when a tracked campaign change occurred during the selected timeframe.
To review activity:
Sign in to MNTN.
Go to the Performance Metrics report.
Hover over an activity marker on a time-based chart, then click See Events to open the Activity Timeline drawer.
Review activity within your selected timeframe.
The drawer opens to the selected event by default, and you can scroll to review other activity from the same timeframe.
Use the Campaign and Event Type filters to narrow the activity displayed in the drawer.
Each activity includes:
The action that occurred
The campaign where the action occurred
The user who made the change
The timestamp
Activity Events
The actions captured in the Activity Timeline contain these categories:
đ Note: Activity Events are not the same as conversion events. See Ad Delivery & Performance for definitions of both terms.
Audience change
Audience Activity Event | Description of Activity |
Audience added to campaign | A new audience was applied to the live campaign. The activity lists the new audience name and associated campaign. |
Audience edited | The composition of an audience changed. This can include changes to MNTN Matched keywords, interest segments, first-party segments, CRM lists, or geography inclusions or exclusions. The activity lists individual segments that were included, excluded, or added as an and statement, along with the associated campaign. |
Audience expression type changed | The type of audience targeted by the campaign changed, such as a change from a first-party retargeting audience to a third-party audience or vice versa. This typically means the audience no longer aligns with the campaign strategy. |
đĄ Pro Tip: We recommend creating a new campaign that aligns with the correct campaign strategy if you want to change the audience expression type instead of overwriting your existing campaign and audience.
