Run Political Advertising on MNTN

Learn which political ads MNTN accepts and what you need to complete before launch.

Overview

MNTN accepts political and issue advertising through a dedicated approval process. Check whether your campaign requires political advertiser confirmation, then complete the applicable approval steps before launch.

Check Whether Your Ads Are Eligible

Your message

MNTN policy

Advocates for a cause or issue without referring to a law, political party, candidate, election, or ballot measure

Accepted as a standard MNTN campaign. Political certification and review are not required.

Relates to a candidate, political party or organization, election, ballot initiative, referendum, or public-policy issue subject to special regulation

Accepted with political advertiser certification, domain approval, and creative review.

📝 Note: A campaign for a cause becomes political advertising when it names or clearly identifies a candidate, party, election, ballot measure, or specific piece of legislation. Political ads may include messaging that criticizes or opposes a candidate, party, policy, or law. If you’re unsure whether your campaign requires political review, contact your MNTN representative before building it.

Confirm Your Political Advertiser Information

When you first sign in to an account identified as running political-related advertising, you’ll see the MNTN Political Advertiser Confirmation form. Complete it to provide the information MNTN needs to verify the advertiser before political-related campaigns can launch.

Have the advertiser’s FEC or state committee ID, EIN, entity registration details, and government-issued identification for the person who will direct, modify, approve, or launch the campaign ready. The form captures the entity paying for the advertising, the races or measures involved, and certification that the advertiser is eligible to place political ads.

If your account will not run political-related advertising, select This doesn’t apply to me on the form to confirm that choice.

If you’re an agency that has executed an MSA directly with MNTN, you must also execute a Political Advertising Addendum once per agency. Brand-direct advertisers do not need the addendum. Contact your MNTN representative if you’re unsure whether it applies to you.

MNTN must receive the applicable completed information and documents to finalize domain approval. Domain approval takes 24 hours from receipt of a complete submission.

Set Up Your Campaign

Political campaigns can run as TV-only campaigns through Performance TV (PTV). MNTN Select, Multi-Touch, and Media Plan are not available.

Pixel tracking is allowed. MNTN recommends running across all available networks for maximum reach, though you can exclude specific networks using the Network blocklist.

Political inventory is priced at a premium relative to standard MNTN rates. Contact your MNTN representative for pricing details.

Prepare Your Creative For Review

Every creative upload is reviewed individually. Domain approval does not pre-approve your creative. A new asset uploaded to an approved account still needs review before it can serve, so upload creative as early as possible to avoid delays. Review takes 24–48 hours per upload.

Political creative must meet these requirements:

  • No AI-generated creative. Video, audio, imagery, and synthetic voice generated by AI are not allowed.

  • Federal race disclaimer. Ads for presidential, U.S. Senate, and U.S. House races must show a legible “Paid for by” disclaimer on screen for at least four continuous seconds.

For questions about eligibility, pricing, or timing, contact your MNTN representative.
