Source B2B Audiences

Build account-based marketing (ABM) audiences using company and contact-level firmographic and intent data.

Overview

B2B audiences let you reach specific companies and buying committees with Connected TV (CTV) advertising. Build Prospecting audiences based on account, firmographic, professional, and intent criteria.

MNTN's custom B2B Audience Builder is powered by a growing portfolio of trusted data partners, now including Bombora.

Build a B2B segment using business email addresses or website domains, firmographic attributes, professional attributes, interest signals, or a combination of these criteria. MNTN uses data from its B2B data partners to identify matching business audiences based on your selections.

How it works

When you build a B2B segment, you define the businesses or professionals you want to reach using B2B targeting criteria. Before saving your segment, MNTN estimates its anticipated reach based on your selections.

MNTN uses business identity data, including email addresses, mobile advertiser IDs (MAIDs), and IP addresses, to identify qualifying records based on your criteria.

Your segment appears in MNTN immediately with a processing status while matching is underway. As matched records return from the data provider, MNTN completes an additional internal matching pass before the segment becomes fully targetable.

  1. Sign in to MNTN.

  2. Follow the steps to Build a New Audience, then continue with the steps below to configure the audience for B2B targeting.

  3. In the Build New Audience modal, select a Prospecting Campaign Strategy.

⚠️ Warning: B2B audiences are available for Prospecting campaign strategies only. They can't be used for Retargeting.

  4. Go to the B2B tab.

  5. Choose how you want to add a B2B segment:

    • Use Existing to select a B2B segment you've already created.

    • Build New to create a new B2B segment.

If you select Build New, continue with the steps below.

Build A New B2B Segment

1. Define your segment.

  1. Select the B2B criteria you want to use.

    Available criteria include:

    • Account-Based

    • Industry

    • Company Size

    • Company Revenue

    • Employee Titles

  2. If you're building an Account-Based segment, add your business email addresses or website domains using one of these methods:

    • Paste directly: Enter up to 1,000 business email addresses or website domains.

    • Upload a CSV: Upload a file containing up to 100,000 records.

⚠️ Warning: Data providers require valid U.S. website domains or specific business email addresses to match a company. Remove any non-U.S. domains from your list before uploading. A company name alone, such as Acme, won't match. Use a domain such as acme.com or an email address using @acme.com.

  3. Add any additional B2B criteria you want to use.

2. Understand how your selections combine.

Selections within the same B2B attribute use OR logic. Selections across different attributes use AND logic.

For example, adding uber.com and mntn.com as business domains includes matching identities from either company. If you also add an Industry selection, matching identities must belong to either selected domain and match the selected industry.

These conditions are applied automatically and can't be changed. Adding criteria across different attributes further refines your segment and may reduce its estimated reach.

💡 Pro Tip: Employee Title segments match by job title, not by company industry, so they may include people outside the industry you expect. For more precise targeting, combine an Employee Titles selection with an Industry selection. For example, pair Elected Officials with Government to narrow the segment to the intended industry.

3. Estimate your reach.

The Segment Overview shows the anticipated reach for your B2B segment based on the criteria you've selected.

  1. Click Estimate Audience Count to calculate the anticipated reach before saving your segment.

  2. Review the estimated reach and adjust your criteria as needed.

Your estimated audience must contain at least 1,000 people. A larger audience is recommended.

  3. Click Save Audience.

Your segment appears immediately with a processing status while matching is completed.

Allow at least two days for your segment to become fully targetable. Your segment is sent for matching on day one, matched data begins returning on day two, and MNTN completes an additional internal matching pass afterward.

Once matching is complete, you can use the segment to target a live Prospecting campaign.

Build Separate Segments for More Targeting Flexibility

You can refine multiple criteria within a single B2B segment, but selections across different attributes are always combined using AND logic.

For more flexibility when building your final audience, consider saving different targeting criteria as separate B2B segments instead of combining all of your criteria into one segment.

For example, you could create separate segments for:

  • An Industry, such as Agriculture

  • Your account-based list

  • A Company Size, such as Micro businesses

Each saved segment has its own estimated reach and becomes an individual B2B segment you can use when building an audience.

You can then select the segments you want to target and refine them further with other criteria. For example, you could target your account-based and Company Size segments, then narrow the audience based on a specific interest.

Creating separate segments also gives you more visibility in reporting. Each B2B segment appears as its own line item in the Audience Segment Report, allowing you to compare visits and conversions across the segments you're targeting.

Access B2B Segments

  1. At the top of the platform, click the Audience tab.

  2. Click the Segments sub-tab and select B2B from the menu.

From here, you can access your existing B2B segments or click + New B2B Segment to create a new one.

Review B2B Audience Performance

You can review B2B audience performance in two MNTN reports:

Use it to

Audience Segment Report

Each B2B segment alongside your other audience segments, including visits and conversions.

Compare visits and conversion performance across the B2B segments you're targeting.

B2B Custom Segments Report

Daily impressions by matched account for your active B2B segments.

Review account-level delivery. Because data providers return aggregate data only, this report doesn't show conversions or cost per lead by individual account.

Quick Answers

How often are B2B segments updated?

B2B segments are refreshed once every 30 days by the data provider based on the IDs that qualify during that period.

Why am I seeing an "Enter a valid domain" error?

B2B account lists support U.S. domains only. If your CSV contains non-U.S. domains, remove them from the file and upload the list again.
