Source Audiences with Interests

Expand your reach by targeting households based on behaviors, attributes, and third-party data.

Overview

Interests is an audience sourcing option available in Prospecting campaigns. Use it to discover and apply third-party interest segments, reaching households based on browsing behaviors, demographics, and purchase histories sourced from multiple data providers.

Interest targeting supports a more intuitive discovery experience, allowing you to describe your audience, explore relevant segments, and refine your selection without needing exact segment names. Selected segments are reflected in your audience composition in real time.

Go to Interests

Use Interests to expand your reach by targeting audiences based on behaviors, attributes, and third-party data.

  1. Sign in to MNTN.

  2. Follow the steps to Build a New Audience.

  3. Go to the Interests tab.

Build Your Audience

Discover segments

Discover interest segments by describing your audience. When you open Interests while creating a new audience, you’ll start with a guided discovery page.

From here, you can:

  • Search using descriptive terms (for example: “travel insurance” or “high income”)

  • Use suggested audience categories to quickly apply filters

  • Filters can be applied from suggested categories, search inputs, and advanced filters (such as provider or vertical)

All filters work together and update results in real time.


📝 Note: The discovery page appears when creating a new audience. When editing an existing audience, you will see the segment selection view directly instead.


For MNTN Select Customers

If you run MNTN Select campaigns, you may have access to Select Reached Audiences in Interests. Select Reached Audiences let you build audiences using households that previously saw your Select campaign.

Use Select Reached Audiences to:

  • Re-engage households who previously saw your Select campaign

  • Sequence messaging across campaigns

  • Extend awareness campaigns with a follow-up strategy

  • Include or exclude Select-reached households in audience logic

To locate Select Reached Audiences, on the Interests tab, search for Select.

Available segments follow this naming format:

MNTN Select: Households Reached in [Bundle Name]


📝 Note: Select Reached Audiences are tied to prior Select campaign exposure. Segments begin appearing after your Select campaign starts serving impressions and households have been reached.


Evaluate segments

Review segment details before selecting:

  • Segment name and description

  • Data provider

  • Audience type

You’ll also see additional details directly in the results table, including data provider and audience size. This helps you understand what each segment represents before adding it to your audience.

Apply segments

  • Select Incl to include a segment

  • Select Excl to exclude a segment

Selected segments appear in your audience composition panel.


📝 Note: If no number is associated with an interest segment, then no households are associated with this segment. The data provider has likely deprecated the segment. Please avoid using these segments when building out your third-party audience.
