Check Pixel Health

Review pixel activity, investigate status changes, and verify your connection.

Overview

The Pixel Health Dashboard helps you spot changes in tracking and conversion activity after your pixels are installed and confirmed. Use it to review each pixel’s status, see where events fired, and check your connection when activity needs attention.

Event counts show yesterday’s activity. Health scoring runs nightly and compares activity with your pixel’s recent history, including typical volume and day-of-week patterns.

Review Your Pixel Status

  1. Sign in to MNTN.

  2. In the upper right corner of the platform, click My Account.

  3. In the left navigation panel, click Pixel.

  4. Review the status and yesterday’s event count for your tracking and conversion pixels.

Use the status to decide what to do next:

Status

What it means

What to do

Good

Activity is consistent with the pixel’s usual patterns, or low or variable volume has not triggered a health concern.

If the event count looks unexpected, review the pixel’s event details.

Decrease detected

Activity is reduced or less consistent than usual. A decrease can reflect a change in site activity and does not necessarily mean the pixel is broken.

Review event details. If the decrease is unexpected, check your connection.

Poor

Activity has fallen enough relative to the pixel’s usual patterns to require investigation.

Review event details and check your connection. Follow the verification guidance to investigate your installation.

Health reflects activity patterns. A Good status can appear even when yesterday’s conversion count is zero, particularly for pixels with low or variable conversion volume.

Inspect Pixel Activity

To see where MNTN detected events:

  1. Click the magnifying glass icon beside the tracking or conversion pixel.

  2. Review the URLs and event activity shown in the details.

  3. If activity looks unexpected, click Check connection.

These details show yesterday’s events. Activity generated today will not appear in yesterday’s counts.

Check Your Connection

  1. On the Pixel page, click Check connection.

  2. Review the installation guide available in the verification modal.

  3. Use the option to visit your website and follow the prompts to generate activity.

  4. Select your pixel installation method.

  5. Click Run verification.

  6. Review the results for your tracking and conversion pixels.

If verification fails, review your installation using the linked guide, make any needed corrections, and run verification again.

If you still need help, use the support ticket option shown in the verification results.

Review Duplicate Conversion Handling

If your pixel records many conversion events but fewer conversions appear in reporting, review how your account handles duplicate Order IDs.

When multiple conversion events share an Order ID, MNTN may exclude duplicates from reporting if duplicate conversions are not allowed. This can lead to undercounting when the values sent as Order IDs do not uniquely identify each conversion.

Allowing duplicate conversions may help address undercounting when your account records many raw conversion events but has zero, one, or very few distinct Order IDs.

⚠️ Warning: This setting changes how conversions are counted in reporting. Before changing the setting, confirm whether those events represent separate conversions you want to count.

Update your setting

  1. On the Pixel page, scroll down to Count all conversions.

  2. Toggle Allow duplicate conversions based on Order IDs ON or OFF:

    • On (default): Counts all conversions regardless of Order ID.

    • Off: Excludes conversions identified as duplicates based on Order ID.

Manage Email Notifications

Pixel health emails go to your account’s primary contact. You can turn off emails for Decrease detected. Emails for Poor are always on.

To change your preference:

  1. On the Pixel page, scroll down to Email notifications.

  2. Toggle notifications for Decrease detected ON or OFF.

  3. Review the recipient shown in this section to confirm who receives the emails. The link to change the address opens your account settings.

⚠️ Warning: Changing this address changes the primary contact for the overall account, including other account communications. It doesn't set a separate recipient for pixel health emails.
